On Tuesday 1 October, thirteen sectoral employers’ organisations at European and national level launched the European Employers’ Institute (EEI), which will provide input to EU policies with specific studies and statistics, according to a press release.
The organisations involved include FIEC (European Construction Industry Federation), Ceemet (European employers for metal and technology industries), ECEG (European Chemical Employers Group), EuroCommerce (European wholesale and retail trade association), Geopa (agriculture), HOTREC (hospitality), World-Employment Confederation - Europe, Danish Industry, Technology Industries of Finland, Gesamtmetall (German metal and electrical engineering employers), IKEM (Swedish innovation and chemicals), Teknikföretagen (Swedish metal industry) and UIMM (French metal employers).
Intended to be the employers’ counterpart to the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), this new research institute “will serve as a central hub for cross-industry research on topics of common interest to employers, providing robust data and insights to inform EU policy decisions on social and employment matters”, says Eurocommerce. “By presenting sound research looking at implications for employers the EEI aims to complement the work of the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), ensuring a balanced representation of employment-related issues and strengthening social dialogue at European level”.
The EEI will prioritise areas such as labour market and social policy, industrial relations, health and safety, skills development and workplace transformation, and the use of AI in the workplace.
