01/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 30 September, Croatia joined the centralised clearance for import (CCI) system, which entered its first phase of implementation in July (see EUROPE 13445/29). Eight Member States have already begun implementation. This new trans-European system digitises the centralised customs clearance process at the European level, enabling trusted traders to submit a customs declaration to the customs office of control in the Member State in which they are established. This applies to goods physically presented to a customs office in any other Member State, enabling customs declaration processing and physical release of goods in a digital, efficient, predictable, and coordinated way among the customs offices located in different Member States. Other Member States plan to join gradually over the coming year. (AD)
