31/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 31 July, the European Commission opened a call for contributions in order to gather feedback on the broad guidelines for the protection of minors online, which are intended to guide the major online platforms in complying with the requirements of the Digital Services Act (DSA) in this area. The Commission is asking for opinions on “the proposed scope and approach of the guidelines as well as on best practices and recommendations for measures to mitigate the risks that minors may encounter online”. Under the DSA, online platforms, even those not designated as ‘very large platforms’, must ensure the safety of minors and the content they access. The call is open until 20 September.
