On Wednesday 31 July, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) published its report for the second quarter of 2024 on the REMIT Regulation, aimed at ensuring the transparency and integrity of energy markets, revised this year in response to changing market dynamics (see EUROPE 13393/34).
This quarterly report provides an updated overview of sanction decisions under the Regulation, with 345 cases under review at the end of the second quarter of 2024.
It also details the main findings of the joint ACER and European Commission workshop on the implementation of REMIT II, held on 11 June, and provides more details on ACER’s public consultation on the new data reporting requirements in the Annex to the REMIT implementing regulation.
The report also gives an overview of transactions on organised markets during the second quarter of 2024, with 54,786 TWh traded on 38 energy exchanges and 21 brokers, marking a decrease of 1.75% compared with the first quarter of 2024, but an increase of 28.19% compared with the same period in 2023.
