On Tuesday 30 July, the European Commission launched a second cross-border call for proposals, worth €52.4 million, for renewable energies under the EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism (RENEWFM).
This mechanism, set up in 2020 and managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), encourages cooperation between EU countries in the field of renewable energies by hosting or contributing financially to each other’s projects.
This call is based on cooperation commitments made by Luxembourg, Finland and Estonia. Luxembourg is contributing €52.4 million to the scheme, while Finland and Estonia will host the projects competing for support.
The projects will target ground-mounted solar photovoltaic projects in Finland and onshore wind projects in Estonia, which must be built and commissioned within 2 and 3 years respectively of the closing date of the call, scheduled for 4 March 2025.
