Javier Colomina appointed as NATO Special Representative for Southern Neighbourhood

23/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 23 July, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the appointment of a Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Javier Colomina. The Spaniard is the Alliance’s Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia. Mr Colomina will be responsible for coordinating and raising the profile of the Alliance’s efforts in the southern neighbourhood and for strengthening engagement with partners. At the Washington Summit in July, the Allies agreed on an action plan that will strengthen NATO’s engagement in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel regions. (CG)
