On Monday 15 July, the European Innovation Council (EIC) unveiled the list of 68 ’deep-tech’ companies selected from 969 companies that submitted full proposals for funding by the first in 2024 EIC Accelerator cut-off in March.
This Horizon Europe funding programme provides support for highly innovative start-ups and SMEs.
These 68 companies together will receive funding of around €411 million, including €165 million in the form of grants and €245 million in the form of equity. The EIC has announced that almost all of the companies selected, 96%, will receive the full blended finance option, which combines grants and equity investments. These equity investments will be made through the EIC Fund, EIC’s dedicated investment arm.
In addition, 273 applications that received a positive assessment from the EIC jury, but for which insufficient funding was available, will be awarded a European Seal of Excellence.
