On Monday 8 July, the European Commission launched a new programme entitled ‘Supporting a Talent Partnership with Bangladesh’, ’to “boost labour mobility and intensify cooperation on migration”, according to a press release.
The Talent Partnership brings together “ Bangladesh, interested Member States and the Commission to identify common needs and joint actions and transform the risk of a brain drain into a brain gain for all partners”. Member States’ participation in these programmes remains voluntary.
This programme “will support skills development and address training needs between Bangladesh and the EU, facilitating mobility to the EU in a number of sectors of common interest, including construction, agriculture, information and communication technologies and hospitality”, the press release adds.
The programme has a budget of €3 million and will be implemented by the International Labour Organization until June 2027.
The Commission is also focusing its partnership work on four other partner countries: Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan and Tunisia. (Original version in French by Solenn Paulic)
