26/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 26 June, the European Democratic Party (EDP) elected German MEP Engin Eroglu, a member of the Freie Wähler party, as their new Executive Vice-President. After his election, Mr Eroglu said that he firmly believed in the “centrist vision” of the EDP and that he was “determined to continue the consolidation and revitalisation efforts of recent years”. EDP Secretary General Sandro Gozi welcomed the fact that the party’s members had found “a loyal and pragmatic partner who shares our approach and who performed well in the European elections”. He added that this appointment strengthened the EDP, a member of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament. “Engin will certainly bring added value to the EDP and we thank him for that”, he concluded.
