26/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group in the European Parliament was due to formally elect its chairman on Wednesday 26 June. The group finally postponed its constitutional meeting (initially moved from morning to afternoon) until Wednesday 3 July, a week later. “More time is needed for internal technical negotiations”, explained their spokesman, Michael Strauss, contacted by Agence Europe. With 83 members (see EUROPE 13435/7), the group currently ranks third in the European Parliament, ahead of Renew Europe and behind the EPP and S&D, which elected its officers on 26 June (see other news).
