The day after the pan-European party Volt (see EUROPE 13438/21) made its membership official, the Greens/EFA group made up its Bureau on Tuesday 25 June.
Kira Marie Peter-Hansen (Danish) was elected Treasurer and Vice-President. Alongside her, Alice Bah Kuhnke (Swedish), Marie Toussaint (French), Virginijus Sinkevičius (Lithuanian), Ignazio Marino (Italian) and Sergey Lagodinsky (German) were elected Vice-Presidents.
The European Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevičius, is expected to remain in office until mid-July, which corresponds to the inaugural plenary session of the European Parliament.
On 18 June, Diana Riba i Giner (Spanish) was elected President of the European Free Alliance. The following day on Wednesday 19 June, Terry Reintke (German) and Bas Eickhout (Dutch) were elected Co-Presidents of the Greens/EFA group (see EUROPE 13435/6).
Next steps. On 27 June, training sessions for Members of the European Parliament on the prevention and management of harassment should take place, with EP Learn, the online learning platform of the European Parliament.
From 1 to 4 July, major meetings will take place in Brussels, including the Conference of Presidents, Bureau and Group meetings, as well as discussions on parliamentary committee seats, priorities for the next European Commission and updates on the composition of Parliament.
From 8 to 11 July, meetings in Brussels will focus on votes for Greens/EFA seats on committees and holding discussions on negotiations with other political groups.
From 15 to 19 July, the inaugural plenary session will take place in Strasbourg, with the election of the President of the European Parliament, followed by the setting up of the committees. (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
