29/05/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 May, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) adopted the agreement between the European Parliament and the EU Council (see EUROPE 13342/1) on the so-called ‘Right to Repair’ Directive, which aims to make it easier to repair objects within the EU and to combat planned obsolescence. The provisional agreement was approved by the Internal Market Committee on 22 February last and voted in plenary session by Parliament on 23 April, with 584 votes in favour, 3 against and 14 abstentions (see EUROPE 13397/19). The ministers of the EU27 must now formally adopt the text, before it is promulgated in the Official Journal of the EU and enters into force. (IS)
