03/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 3 May, to mark World Press Freedom Day, the European Parliament launched the call for entries for the Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism, named after the Maltese journalist murdered on 16 October 2017, who was working on the corruption of the Maltese government at the time. The prize is awarded each year for “outstanding journalism that promotes and defends the core principles and values of the European Union, such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and human rights”, says the European Parliament. It is open to professional journalists and teams of journalists of any nationality, who can submit detailed articles that have been published or broadcast by media based in one of the EU27 Member States. They can submit articles on the dedicated website (https://aeur.eu/f/c2b ) until 31 July. (SP)
