On Friday 3 May, the European Commission approved a positive preliminary assessment of France’s third payment request for €7.5 billion under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
According to the Commission, France has satisfactorily achieved the 15 milestones and 24 targets set out in the EU Council’s implementing decision for the third tranche, which covers the first milestones and targets in France’s REPowerEU chapter.
This payment claim, submitted by Paris on 16 January 2024, covers the state’s digital upgrade and the decarbonisation of industry as part of the REPowerEU chapter.
The Economic and Financial Committee must now give its opinion on the French application within 4 weeks. The funds can be paid out once this opinion has been issued and a payment decision has been adopted by the Commission. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
