18/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson for the European External Action Service expressed hope, on behalf of the EU, that the leaders of Republika Srpska would cease their legislative initiatives, in particular the Republika Srpska draft laws on elections, referendums, immunity and “foreign agents”, currently under discussion in the National Assembly, on the grounds that these “would undermine the constitutional order of the country, the functionality of its institutions and fundamental freedoms, and go against Bosnia and Herzegovina’s commitments on its EU path”. “Following the European Council decision last month, on opening EU accession negotiations, the EU expects Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the Republika Srpska entity, to make steps forward instead of taking actions that are at odds with its European path”, he warned in a statement.
