18/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 17 April, the Committee of the Regions called on the European Union to be ready to provide additional long-term funding to help Ukraine recover from the war, in particular by increasing technical assistance to the Ukrainian public administration, believing that the €50 billion ‘Ukraine Facility’ would probably not be enough. The opinion, drawn up by Antje Grotheer, was adopted following a debate with the Mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko. Mr Boychenko stressed the need to begin preparations for reconstruction and urged European cities that had suffered destruction during the Second World War to share their knowledge in order to contribute to Ukraine’s recovery.
