03/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – Negotiators from the European Parliament and the Council are due to meet again on Monday 8 April to try to reach agreement on the regulation abolishing tariffs on imports from Ukraine, according to three European sources. The agreement reached between the two institutions on 20 March did not convince the EU27, who modified their position and asked that products be added to the automatic safeguard provided for in the regulation (see EUROPE 13375/9). The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU hopes that an agreement can be reached on Monday so that the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade can approve the text the following day, Tuesday 9 April, and that all 705 MEPs can do the same at one of the two plenary sessions in April.
