03/04/24 (Agence Europe) – As the European Parliament prepares to vote in Strasbourg on 24 April on the amendments it wishes to introduce to the initial proposal revising the rules on the production and marketing of plant reproductive material, the EU Member States are trying to define their position on this issue (see EUROPE 13374/13). Delegations submitted comments on certain aspects of the text (the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council asked them about the species that should be added to or removed from Annex I or about the need for a transition period for newly added species). The Belgian Presidency of the EU Council intends to present a “state of play” on the examination of the proposal in June. For forest reproductive material, it is aiming for a “general approach” in June. (LC)
