03/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 April, the spokesman for the European External Action Service condemned the strikes attributed to Israel against an annex of the Iranian embassy in Damascus on Monday 1 April, which killed at least 16 people, including two civilians and several members of the Revolutionary Guards Corps. “In this highly tense regional situation, it is imperative to show utmost restraint. Further escalation in the region is in no one’s interest”, the spokesman stressed in a press release. He recalled that the principle of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel must be respected in all cases and in all circumstances, in accordance with international law. The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, announced that Iran would “respond decisively” to this attack. (CG)
