Samoa Agreement, European Parliament decides to set up four interparliamentary delegations

12/12/2023 (Agence Europe)On Tuesday 12 December, the European Parliament adopted by a show of hands the decision on the establishment and the numeral strength of four interparliamentary delegations under the Samoa Agreement - the renewed and modernised partnership agreement between the EU and its Member States, on the one hand, and the 79 countries of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), on the other (see EUROPE 13295/28). Under this decision, which will come into force on 1 January 2024, there will be: - a 78-member delegation to the OACPS-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly; - a 48-member delegation to the Africa-EU Parliamentary Assembly; - a 15-member delegation to the Caribbean-EU Parliamentary Assembly; - a 15-member delegation to the EU-Pacific Parliamentary Assembly. The delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly of the Cotonou Agreement will be dissolved. The European Parliament’s decision: https://aeur.eu/f/a3n (AN)
