Data governance act, European Commission is introducing common logos to identify recognised intermediation service providers

On Wednesday 9 August, the European Commission announced the introduction of common logos to identify data intermediation service providers and data altruism organisations recognised in the EU, as part of the Data Governance Act (DGA) (see EUROPE 13183/33).

This provision, adopted by means of an implementing Regulation, should enable users to differentiate between recognised trust services and others in order to “contribute to market transparency”, as the Commission stated in a public consultation launched last May.

These logos will also have to be accompanied by a QR code that will give access to the EU public register of these organisations. The register will be available from 24 September.

On 16 May 2022, the EU Council validated the political agreement reached with the European Parliament on the DGA. The text was then published in the EU’s Official Journal on 30 May 2022. From this date, the application of the DGA rules is expected to take 15 months. (Original version in French by Thomas Mangin)
