29/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – The open letter on the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) by the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA) and the European Newspaper Publishers’ Association (ENPA), published on Tuesday 27 June, has drawn the ire of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) (see EUROPE 13210/23). The reason: some of their members appear on the list of signatories without having given their agreement. Ricardo Gutiérrez, General Secretary of the EFJ, denounced the “manipulation” and “serious usurpation of signatories” by publishers’ associations. ENPA and EMMA issued press releases apologising for their “honest mistake”. The letter was supported by 350 publishers and associations, not 400. The corrected letter: https://aeur.eu/f/7ss (HS)
