EEAS deplores decision of National Assembly of Republika Srpska to render inapplicable decisions of Bosnian Constitutional Court

29/06/23 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 28 June, the EU’s European External Action Service (EEAS) regretted that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska had adopted a law under which the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina are no longer applicable within the political entity. “The National Assembly of Republika Srpska does not have the power to decide not to apply the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, commented the EEAS. “This vote marks a clear break with the expectations that accompanied the granting of EU candidate status”, he added. “The decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina are final and enforceable throughout the territory of the country. Such initiatives aimed at undermining the country’s constitutional and legal order, in contradiction with the fundamental principles of the rule of law, are not acceptable”, reacted the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić. (TM)
