European Commission does not oppose joint acquisition of broadcaster Vlanderen Eén by Mediahuis, Liberty Global and NRJ Group

14/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 14 June that it had approved the acquisition of joint control by way of purchase of shares in Vlaanderen Eén NV (Belgium), the commercial broadcaster operating radio station Nostalgie Vlaanderen, by media group Mediahuis NV (Belgium), integrated communications services provider Liberty Global plc (UK) and private media group NRJ Group SA (France). The European Commission received notification of the proposed merger on 16 May 2023. Under the simplified merger control procedure, the Commission concluded that the notified merger would not give rise to any competition concerns, as Vlaanderen Eén NV has only limited activities on the relevant market within the European Economic Area.
