31/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 30 May, the European Commission adopted a proposal to modify certain total allowable catches (TACs) and 2023 quotas in EU waters. This includes a provisional TAC for anchovy in Iberian waters of 4,564 tonnes for the period from 1 July to 30 September 2023 (prior to a definitive TAC). This proposal also concerns the agreement between the EU and Norway on the TAC for Northern prawn in EU waters and Norwegian waters of ICES division 3a (Skagerrak and Kattegat) for the period from 1 January to 30 June 2023. Other species affected by the Commission’s proposal: sprat in the North Sea and in the Skagerrak and Kattegat, and sprat in the English Channel.
