14/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 14 February, the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group in the European Parliament elected Italian MEP Nicola Procaccini as the group’s new co-chair alongside Ryszard Legutko of Poland. An MEP since 2019, Mr Procaccini is replacing his fellow countryman Raffaele Fitto, who has been appointed Italian Minister for European Affairs. “We want a Europe that does fewer things and does them better, with less centralism, more subsidiarity and less bureaucracy. A Europe that knows how to create real added value for its citizens. [...] A Europe of states that fully respect each other in their diversity and are in solidarity with each other”, explained Mr Procaccini in a statement. In his opinion, support for Ukraine, strengthening European economies, and protecting the EU’s external borders to better manage migration flows to Europe are urgent EU goals. (CG)
