During the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday 14 February, MEPs adopted a proposal for a decision to set up a sub-committee on public health (see EUROPE 13102/19) within the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI). The creation of this sub-committee marks a further step in the consolidation of the Health Union. This sub-committee will continue the work of the ENVI committee’s ‘health working group’. The public health sub-committee will have no legislative powers and will report to the ENVI committee. The sub-committee will have 30 members, selected from the ENVI committee. The list of its members is expected to be presented at a forthcoming European Parliament plenary session. Link to the procedure sheet: https://aeur.eu/f/5bs (EV)
