06/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The German Constitutional Court rejected, on Tuesday 6 December, two complaints, including one from German MEP Gunnar Beck (Identity and Democracy), which sought to reject the Next Generation EU Recovery Plan set up in 2020 to stimulate economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic through a European loan. Technically, this European loan had required the amendment of the EU Own Resources Decision of the EU budget. Such a legislative initiative does not go beyond the current European integration agenda “nor does it impair the overall budgetary responsibility of the Bundestag”, the Karlsruhe Court ruled in its judgment, supported by five of the six judges. It is of the opinion that there is no need for a preliminary ruling from the Court of Justice of the EU. See the judgment of the Karlsruhe Court: https://aeur.eu/f/4hy (MB)
