06/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission is expected to increase by 12.27%, compared to the amounts set in 2021, the individual grants that will be awarded in 2023 under the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes, which concern the mobility of students and young people participating in a voluntary activity respectively. Since 2021, there has been a drastic increase in inflation, which particularly affects the cost of living, i.e. food and housing, an internal source at the EU institution told EUROPE on Friday 2 December. According to the Commission, the announced adjustment is part of a more comprehensive review of the applicable rates, planned for 2023, during which the Commission will again examine the impact of rising inflation, but also other aspects such as the post-pandemic effects, the war in Ukraine or the energy crisis.
