The European Commission adopted on Wednesday 29 June an update of its ‘Blue Guide on the implementation of product rules’ in relation to the New Legislative Framework (NLF) to help ensure a level playing field across the European single market.
This guide is dedicated, among other things, to the European conformity assessment system, laboratory accreditation, CE marking and market surveillance, and aims to update the 2016 text. The aim is to take into account the developments that have taken place over the last 5 years, in particular following the adoption of the Regulation on the market surveillance of products (see EUROPE 12189/11).
More specifically, it deals with the characteristics of distance selling, the placing on the market of products subject to physical changes or software updates and the assessment of conformity assessment bodies, according to the European institution.
