29/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 June the Council of Europe announced the creation of a network of national correspondents of police authorities to strengthen technical cooperation between European police forces and the Strasbourg-based organisation. The objectives of this network are to improve knowledge of the organisation and modus operandi of the police services, to share experiences in the fight against all forms of crime, to implement existing standards and to possibly participate in the development of additional cooperation instruments. It will develop comparative studies on policing in the face of new challenges such as artificial intelligence, cybercrime, digital investigating technologies and managing public assemblies with due regard for human rights. Europol, Interpol and police unions at European level are invited to contribute to the work of this network. (VL)
