23/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 23 June, the European Parliament approved (576 votes in favour, 3 against and 13 abstentions) the report by Karlo Ressler (EPP, Croatia) on the draft amending budget, which increases the 2022 appropriations of the EU budget to support people fleeing Ukraine because of the war started by Russia (see EUROPE 12976/18). This represents an increase of €99.8 million in commitment appropriations (+ €176 million in payments). The funds will be channelled through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI). The total amount of funds available for migration and border management is €400 million. The funds will help EU countries meet the costs of the initial reception and registration of people fleeing Ukraine. (LC)
