23/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 22 June, the French Presidency of the Council of the EU failed to see support for its new compromise proposals on the regulation establishing the Social Climate Fund (SCF)—the dossier also being slowed down by “strong resistance” to work on the ETS BRT, the EU emissions trading system covering buildings and road transport, which will serve to finance the SCF, reported a source. The Presidency is expected to make new proposals for an exchange on 24 June, in theory. The text has been contested on various points, including the 15% share of Social Climate Plans that can be guided by cohesion policy or the volume of the SCF. Many points remain open, whereas certain Member States still do not like that this fund even exists. (SP)
