23/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament gave a favourable opinion on Thursday 23 June on the Council of the European Union’s proposal to appoint Stephanus Abraham Blok of the Netherlands as a member of the EU Court of Auditors. Mr Blok’s candidature was supported with 414 votes in favour, 112 against and 57 abstentions after a favourable opinion from the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control on 15 June. The position at the Court of Auditors for the Netherlands has been vacant since April 2022, following the death of the incumbent, Alex Brenninkmeijer. The final decision on the appointment will be taken by the EU Council. (LC)
