23/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – In a press release published on Wednesday, 22 June, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) welcomed the European Parliament’s decision to include road transport in the EU emissions trading system (ETS2). “By itself, it is not a magic solution that can replace other regulations. Without it, however, it won’t be possible to make the required levels of CO2 reductions”, declared ACEA Director General Eric-Mark Huitema. Nevertheless, this is, in his opinion, a fundamental requirement for alternative-powered vehicles to take off. He thus insisted on the development of a suitable network of charging infrastructure. The ACEA laments, however, that MEPs voted for only commercially used fuels to be included in the ETS2. (PH)
