03/06/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament and the Council of the EU will meet on Tuesday 7 June to discuss the Common Charger Directive. On Wednesday 1 June, the French EU Council Presidency submitted a revised mandate which was widely supported by the national delegations at the meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives I (Coreper I). This revised mandate notably broadens the scope of the directive and tightens the provisions of the text on the issue of wireless charging, notably by shortening the deadline to 48 months (see EUROPE 12961/10). On the transposition period, the Member States have taken a position for a period of 24 months. (PH)
