The regulation to suspend tariffs and tariff quotas on imports from Ukraine for 1 year enters into force on Saturday 4 June, following its publication in the Official Journal of the EU on 3 June. It was adopted quickly, after the European Commission published its proposal at the end of April (see EUROPE 12940/3).
The suspension also applies to anti-dumping duties imposed by the EU on certain products. The EU hopes to support the Ukrainian economy by facilitating its exports. “This is vital for winning the war and for economic recovery”, said EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.
