20/05/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 19 May, SMEunited, which represents SMEs and the craft industry, published a position paper on the future Single Market Emergency Instrument (SMEI). The employers’ organisation is calling for, among other things: - a mechanism to provide information in near real-time; - a uniform approach across Europe to responses to the crisis; - a coordinated approach to maintaining the free movement of workers in the EU; - an appropriate definition of the term ‘crisis’; - the establishment of a preventive system and measures to ensure the security of supply chains. For the European Commission, the preparation of the text is progressing. The institution hopes to present the instrument in September (see EUROPE 12955/10). (PH)
