07/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 6 April, around sixty MEPs signed a letter initiated by the EPP Group calling for military mobility projects to receive more funding as soon as possible. The letter pointed out, “In the light of these further commitments and the new geopolitical challenges, we stress the need for intensifying the work on this policy [the Strategic Compass]” (see EUROPE 12919/3). Moreover, MEPs are also calling for an increase in the EU co-funding rate for military mobility projects, starting with “the strategically urgent projects” in the eastern part of the EU. Furthermore—in the interest of saving time—MEPs are calling for the procedures for evaluating military mobility project applications to be simplified as well.
