07/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 7 April, the Council of the European Union adopted conclusions on the agricultural and forestry aspects of the European Commission’s communication on sustainable carbon cycles. In the text, the EU Council invites the European Commission to consider the work of the expert group (that will be established) with the aim of assessing the potential implications of broadening the scope of the EU regulatory framework for the certification of carbon removals to agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction, including an increased incentive for land managers to reduce GHG emissions at farm level.
