Brussels, 21/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean, launched, on Monday 21 February during the European Rail Summit held in the margins of the informal meeting of EU Member States’ Transport Ministers at Le Bourget, Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (see EUROPE 12894/7). This rail research and innovation partnership is expected to make Europe’s railways more efficient, more affordable and more user-friendly. In addition, Ms Vălean also officially closed the European Year of Rail 2021 (see EUROPE 12777/7). “We have seen a first glimpse of the rail renaissance we are working towards, with the launch or announcement of new rail connections. At EU level, we have an ambitious action plan and we will continue to work for faster and better rail links”, said Ms Vălean. (TM)
