21/02/2022 (Agence Europe) – 32 rail sector stakeholders from 24 EU Member States committed themselves on Monday 21 February to improving the appeal of rail in the EU and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve this, the 32 stakeholders believe that “massive European investment” is required. This funding could be particularly used to modernise rail networks, to increase their capacity and interoperability, and to support operators with modernising their rolling stock. In addition, the signatory operators and stakeholders believe that efforts should be made to provide passengers with real-time information on international and cross-border issue and information on night trains.
