01/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 1 December, the European Commission approved an amendment to a French aid package for Air France. This support, approved by the Commission on 4 May 2020 (and amended on 26 July 2021), consists of a state guarantee for loans and a shareholder loan to Air France. The €7 billion aid was approved under the temporary framework for State aid measures and is intended to provide the company with urgent cash support in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The amendments notified by France concern only the State guarantee and aim to extend the duration of this guarantee for a further 2 years (until May 2025). This means that the total duration of the guarantee will be 5 years. This measure aims to preserve the company’s cash position in the medium term, according to the Commission. (LC)
