15/11/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU decided on Monday 15 November to sanction four new Syrian ministers in office since August 2021. They are Amr Salem, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Boutros Al-Hallaq, Minister of Information, Mohammad Seifeddine, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, and Diala Barakat, Minister of State. As government ministers, they share “responsibility for the Syrian regime’s violent repression of the civilian population”, says the legal act linked to the decision, published on 15 November. With this decision, 287 individuals are subject to a travel ban and asset freeze and 70 entities are subject to an asset freeze for their role in repression or their support for the Syrian regime.
