The latest review of the accounts of the EU Joint Undertaking, conducted by the European Court of Auditors for the financial year 2020, has again provided positive results.
These results, published on Friday 12 November, relate to eight Joint Undertakings: public-private partnerships implemented in the field of research under the European Horizon 2020 framework programme.
These eight companies have now been in existence for seven years and will remain in place for another three years. Together, they manage a total budget of €19.7 billion.
In its report, the Court therefore provided favourable audit opinions for all these companies, both in respect of their annual accounts and on the legality and regularity of the revenue and transactions underlaying those accounts.
“In our opinion, these accounts present fairly, in all material respects, the JUs’ financial positions as of 31 December 2020 and the results of their operations and their cash flows for the year then ended”, summarised the Court.
The institution also noted that the eight companies were able to “exploit synergies to maintain business continuity during the Covid-19 pandemic”.
However, it did identify a number of areas for improvement, for example with regard to annual payment planning or human resource management.
