14/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – In conclusions adopted without debate on Monday 14 June, the Council of the European Union welcomes the fact that in 2020, the EU collectively remained the world’s largest donor of official development assistance, with 66.8 billion (2% of total ODA), or 0.41% of its collective Gross National Income (GNI) - better than the OECD average (see EUROPE 12698/19). It reaffirms the need to do more to meet collective and individual targets, and to collectively reach 0.7% of GNI by 2030. The EU Council expresses serious concern about the decrease in ODA to the least developed countries (LDCs) from the EU27 to 0.10% of GNI in 2019. The EU, it adds, has still not reached its target of devoting 0.15-0.20% of GNI to LDCs in the short term. See the EU Council conclusions: https://bit.ly/3vng7dJ (AN)
