14/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 14 June, the European Ministers for Social Affairs and Employment adopted conclusions on the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic regarding gender equality. These findings, detailed earlier in our articles (see EUROPE 12733/17), highlight the fact that women have been more affected by job losses and falling wage levels and have taken on a disproportionate share of unpaid work (see EUROPE 12584/11), which has increased during the crisis as a result of school closures, increased household chores and an unavailability of home care services. Poland has once again stated in a note that it considers the term “gender” to refer only to “sex” (see EUROPE 12713/20).
