11/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy announced, on Monday 10 May, that the EU would soon adopt additional sanctions against Belarus. “The regime continues its repression and intimidation against their own citizens. Now they are targeting the Polish community” (see EUROPE 12687/17), Josep Borrell denounced at the end of the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU during which Belarus was quickly discussed. “We are working on the next sanctions package, which I hope will be adopted in the coming weeks. This will be another sanctions package, taking into account everything that is happening in the country, including the way the regime is targeting the Polish community”, he warned. The EU has already sanctioned 88 individuals, including President Alexander Lukashenko, and seven Belarusian entities linked to the regime (see EUROPE 12667/23). (CG)
