European working group SMET convened to analyse cross-border restrictions in regulated professions sector

11/05/2021 (Agence Europe)The Single Market Enforcement Task Force (SMET) held its 5th meeting during the afternoon of Tuesday 11 May. Members of this working group are examining cross-border restrictions in the regulated professions sector and restrictive measures in the agri-food sector. The Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton was also due to speak, setting out the update to the industrial strategy presented last week. EUROPE will continue to follow this story. Created under the industrial strategy presented in March 2020 (see EUROPE 12443/7), this working group played a key role in lifting cross-border restrictions during the early stages of the pandemic; they could play an equally important role in the creation of the future Single Market Emergency Instrument, which has been announced as part of the updated strategy (see EUROPE 12713/6).
