05/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament gave its consent on Wednesday 5 May to the draft Council decision to conclude, on behalf of the European Union, the agreement on the time limits for the provision of aircraft with crew between the European Union, the United States, Iceland and Norway. Specifically, the agreement is intended to confirm “the establishment of clear and non-restrictive wet lease arrangements between the EU and the US” in order to “maximise the benefits for consumers, airlines, workers and communities on both sides of the Atlantic”. The agreement, which clarifies the rules for wet leasing, stipulates that no time limit on the operation of a lease can be set by the US or the EU and that this process will be a matter for arrangement between two airlines.
